You simply cannot visit Siem Reap without seeing Angkor Wat but nor should you neglect the other parts of this historic town, which add to the charm and allure of this northwestern province of Cambodia. Spending an entire day to explore the ancient temples of Angkor is simply not enough. For our second day in Siem Reap, we drove all the way to Banteay Srei, also known as ‘the red temple’ for the red hue of the stones used to build it. After which, we ended the day at the famous Pub Street, a neon-lit network of streets and alleys teeming with restaurants, bars, and clubs that make Siem Reap alive at night.
My recent trip to Cambodia was quite a challenge as my friends and I only had the entire weekend to explore the wonders of Siem Reap – home of the prized Angkor temples of Cambodia. From Vietnam, we transferred to Siem Reap via a 12-hour bus ride with a stopover at Cambodia’s capital – Phnom Penh. It was a long ride yet a quick stay at Siem Reap. Nonetheless, a trip to Cambodia will always be a memorable and a different kind of experience. From jungle adventures to vibrant culture to legendary nightlife, the northwest Cambodian province of Siem Reap showcases one of the world’s most awe-inspiring historical sites. If you’re up for an adventure, Siem Reap is the place to go!
